Design and fabrication of a tractor powered leaves collector machine equipped with suction-blower system CIGR Journal
Azadbakht, Mohsen; Kiapey, Ali; Jafari, Ali.
Leaves scattered on the parks, passages, and other places have a detrimental effect on the beauty of the environment, and decrease photosynthesis, hence, the efficiency of plants.  Leaves are also used in the production of peat.  This makes using leaves collectors in parks, and organizations with a green space useful.  Due to the fact that leaves take up a high volume, their transportation is difficult.  Using the machine introduced in this paper which was equipped with a suction-blower system, increases efficiency, and at the same time decreases the costs of green space, and their workforce cost.  Focusing on overcoming the mentioned difficulties, this study was carried out in order to design and produce a tractor powered leaves collector equipped with...

Estimation of the lifespan of agricultural tractor using a diffusion model at the aggregate level Ciencia e Investigación Agraria
Muñoz,Ricardo; Llanos,José.
The adoption of agricultural tractors by farms has resulted in different combinations, relationships and established ways of production of localities, regions and countries. The dynamics of the tractorization process are defined by the balance of the units that enter the fleet and those that are removed at the end of their useful life. This study uses a diffusion pattern and aggregated adoption of the agricultural tractor, the parameters of which were determined using a nonlinear estimation procedure and country-level data for Chile. Using the predictive power of the model, a longitudinal series of tractor fleets was estimated, and then the balance was calculated considering the units that were discharged. To more accurately determine the average lifespan...

Failure rate analysis of four agricultural tractor models in southern Iran CIGR Journal
Afsharnia, Fatemeh; Asoodar, Mohammad Amin; Abdeshahi, Abbas; Marzban, Afshin.
Tractors play an important role in agricultural mechanization.  A repairable mechanical system (as agricultural tractor) is prone to deterioration or repeated failures.  In this study, the owners of three hundred tractors, which include Massey Ferguson (MF285 model and MF399 model), John Deere (JD3140 model) and Universal (U650 model), were interviewed, from five regions of Khouzestan Province.  A regression model was used to predict the tractors failure rate.  The machine failure pattern was carefully studied and key factors affecting the failure rate were identified in these regions.  The data obtained from farm records valid by using questionnaire was separated into two groups according to how those tractors were stored.  Results showed that the...

Influence of tyres characteristics and travelling speed on ride vibrations of a modern medium powered tractor Part II, Evaluation of the Health Risk CIGR Journal
Servadio, Pieranna; Belfiore, Nicola Pio.
In this paper, according to ISO 2631/1, 1997, the influence of the mechanical vibrations on human health is evaluated and assessed with four methods: the health guidance caution zones (HGCZ), the estimated vibration dose value (eVDV), the fourth power vibration dose value (VDV), a combination of various methods presented in literature.  The normative refers to the HGCZ, which involves the average RMS vibration emission level and its exposure time during a given working day.  Values of crest factor for the operator seat showed that Z-axis was the more solicited, even if all the crest factor values are below 9.  Results of mechanical vibration in respect of comfort and health, according with the method of the HGCZ, showed that only case B, at higher forward...

MEASUREMENT AND ANALYSIS OF A FIELD AREA BASED ON AN ADAPTIVE KALMAN FILTER REA
Fang,Susu; Wang,Zengcai; Zhong,Wenjun.
ABSTRACT: This paper proposed the use of an adaptive Kalman filter (AFK) to improve Global Positioning System (GPS) positioning accuracy to measure a tractor operational area. First, we used MATLAB to identify the operation trajectory. Then, we used different colors to show the area of operation. Finally, we used an image-processing method to calculate the effective operational area, actual operational area, and repeat and omission rates. We used these rates to evaluate the tractor efficiency. The experiment indicated that the Kalman filter improved the accuracy of GPS single-point positioning. To test the GPS area-measurement precision, field area measurements were taken. We used GPS to measure standard figures and some irregular figures. The results...

Farzad Jalilian tabar; Hekmat Rabbani; Agricultural Machinery Department, Razi University of Kermanshah, Iran; Alinejat Lorestani; Agricultural Machinery Department, Razi University of Kermanshah, Iran; Payam Javadikia; Agricultural Machinery Department, Razi University of Kermanshah, Iran; Rashid Gholami; Agricultural Machinery Department, Razi University of Kermanshah, Iran;.
Tractors have been used for transportation on roads by many farmers in addition to use in the field operations. MF285 tractor is the popular kind of tractor in Iran (about 30% of all tractors) and almost this tractor has been used without cabin.  Despite the problems caused by noise from the tractors and all its adverse effects on users and observers, no comprehensive research has been done on them.  The result of this research indicate that the noise level of MF285 tractor, in 2250 r/min engine speed, will be 90 dB(A) which in comparison with the standard value, 85 dB(A), is dangerous for operator’s ears.  The test site was prepared according to the international standards.  The noise emitted by tractor in three gears (2, 3 and 4) and three speeds (1,500,...

Performance evaluation of a spring tine cultivator in a sandy loam soil CIGR Journal
Okoko, Paul; Umani, Kingsley Charles; Onwe, David Nwabueze.
Selection and matching of appropriate tillage implements for a given farming operation are dependent on the data available on draft parameters for the particular tillage implement. Spring tine cultivator is one of the primary tillage implements commonly used by farmers in the study location. Performance information of spring tine cultivator is vital to enable the cost of tillage operation to be reduced. Field experiments were performed using spring tine cultivator and tractor at three tillage depths (10, 20 and 30 cm) and five tractor speeds (3.6, 5.4, 7.2, 9.0 and 10.8 km/hr) to determine the implement travel speed. The effects of tillage depth and implement travel speed on draft force, unit draft, vertical specific draft, horizontal specific draft and...
